    Dawlish Road Selly Oak

From my aged memory, the pawnbrokers were Sheils (pardon the spelling). They also had a second shop inbetween The Prince of Wales and the Post Office further up Bristol Road just before Chapel Lane.

    Westhill College Selly Oak

Thanks for the link. We are both mostly correct then. I know that Westhill College was situated on several sites around that vicinity including down College Walk on the other side of Bristol Road. Slight digression, do you recall the two large detached houses on Weoley Park Road at its junction...

    Westhill College Selly Oak

Far be it from me to disagree with you ...............but this photo is of Middlemore Homes child emigration centre. I delivered newspapers all along Weoley Park road during the late 50's early 60's and am fairly sure of this. The inscription confirming this on the portico was ground off much...

Yes, I remember Alan "The Arab" Carr. I recall him being at Highgate for many years. A bit of a character who liked a chat. Terribly sad that he lost his life in a motorcycle accident so soon after retiring from the Brigade.

    Birmingham Fire Stations

I find this quite sad. I was serving at Central from the very early 70's to the mid 70's before transferring closer to my home. I would have been there during your probationer time and may well have known you, It is certainly true that there were a few martinet Station Officers and Sub Officers...

    Sheldon Fire Station

Aggie, I believe that there is a Facebook site for Red Watch Sheldon with numerous photos from the 70's onwards. You will need to search for this but I'm sure it's there. Chris. sheldon red watch old boys reunion. That's the page title, and if I'm not mistaken, the 1st photo appears to have...

    Peters Albert Thomas Selly Park

Hello Emma, It's interesting that my Grandfather had a sibling (or more) that was / were never mentioned, as I was unable to discover much re the Peters / Seazell family history. I do have a small amount of information which may be of interest to you. If you would like, I will share this...

    Central Fire Station Hq

Hello Aggie 2347, though I assume it's possibly Ken. The chap's name was Arthur Davenport and I think he retired 75/76 ish, having spent all or nearly all of his service on Blue Watch at A1. Do feel free to do whatever you wish with that old post I made re Arthur.
