Thinking on the theme of, #263, though not in Birmingham, my wife's grandfather was carter, started at 13 as a plough boy, he spoke often that he started each day at 3 30am, spent an hour grooming and dressing his 2 plough horses, preparing the plough , and regularly walked 12, 15, miles a day...

Sutton Park Roman History: Rowton / Rownton / Roman-ton Well

It was probably a local tribal well, the ancient britons worshipped water sources, the Roman' s used to keep these as a special place to keep the local tribes on side. They also had their own water deities, and would leave offerings also !!

    Car registration numbers

Thank you very much down memory Lane, very kind of you, I paid a large sum in the 70's for my PS 3755, came from Scotland from a 1920's "shooting Brake", from one of the large estates. Sold it, with my XJ6, to Peter Salt, Builder , Somersham Cambs, in 1983.

    Car registration numbers

I think I have said before, my famous number was ROD 90, on a Wolsey!! I imagine it would be worth a pretty penny now, In the 1970's , I had my initials, PS 3755, plate on my Jaguar XJ6.
