    Brandwood, Kings Heath Policewoman Murder

Thank you kindly Mike, I can only assume that this was the incident as my memory of it is a little cloudy. I’m certain it took place at the building I mentioned which was indeed about 150 yards from the Ash Meadow. John.

    Brandwood, Kings Heath Policewoman Murder

I have a memory of a policewoman being killed in the 1980s or 90s on Brandwood Park Road in Kings Heath. If I remember correctly it was at a three story block of flats that sat between that road and Bryndale Avenue and I believe the poor woman was fatally stabbed. The flats were later demolished...

    new peaky series

You can add me to that list. No offence to those who enjoy it, but the glorification of people who create nothing positive but make other’s lives a misery by intimidation and violence turns my stomach. They may be wearing floppy caps and three piece suits but they’re no different from the human...

    Kings Heath

As mentioned in another thread, I once saw Bob Price and Cyril Fletcher as they walked past me after filming an episode of Gardening Today at the Kings Heath Park garden, probably around 1980.

    Stechford Area

I do, they had another shop on Vicarage Road in Kings Heath that I sometimes went to in the 70s and 80s.

    Sutton Park today

Those mushrooms all look like Fly Agaric at various stages of development, to me. Most unlikely to be served in a restaurant unless a trip to Wonderland is planned…

    She played her face

I certainly do, exactly in the context you describe. It’s a phrase I still use.

    Turner’s Modeldrome

You may be right, Mike, and thank you once again. To clarify further, it was in a row of single storey shops close to the Greenwood Tree pub.

    Turner’s Modeldrome

Thanks, Mike. The shop at Primrose Hill was there in the 1960s and existed until the early 1980s at least, I think, and also doubled as a newsagent. Run by Dennis Turner and another chap called Paul.

    Turner’s Modeldrome

Long ago my Dad and older brothers (and occasionally myself, though I was very young) were regular customers of a model shop at Primrose Hill called Turner’s Modeldrome. Looking online through early 1970s copies of AeroModeller magazine the address is given as 24 Teviot Grove, Kings Norton...

    Selly Oak Bristol Road

I visited when it was an empty building some time in the early 1980s with my elder brother, I was probably in my early teens or slightly younger. I wish I could remember more about it, but I know I felt quite sad finding offcuts of film lying on the projection room floor.

    RIP OZZY OSBOURNE

I doubt the world will ever see the like of him again. Round of applause for Ozzy :)

    Celebrities in passing

Olympic heptathlete Judy Simpson in a packaging supply shop in the Jewellery Quarter. No idea why I suddenly remembered that.
