    Acocks Green Station

Great to see my old local station! I stood on that platform hundreds of times during the 1970^s to have a night in town! The journey used to take 10 minutes & the trains were always bang on time!

    Field Gate Farmhouse, Acocks Green

I must say that this site never fails to amaze me! I have walked, cycled, bused and driven past this area hundreds of times, especially around the 60,s & 70,s, and never even noticed what was there! Keep up the great work!

    Shakespeare Inn, Stratford Road

Thanks Viv for posting this picture. Exactly as I remember it from the 1950,s or, judging from the electric street lamp in Henly Road, early 1960,s.

    Ponds Tools

Great shop! Always had exactly what you wanted! Made many trips there in the 1970,s. Was very well known within the construction & engineering industries!

    It's DaveHaw's birthday!

Well thank you all! Can I just give a big shout out for all BHF members for highlighting the history of our outstanding city! They have helped me immensely with updating my family history and I have been able to learn so much about areas, people and events that I never knew existed. And at...

    Golden Hillock Road School

I remember Mr Scott. He was Third year Form teacher as well as a PE teacher in about 1966. Could not pronounce my name correctly but at least he tried. Always found him fair and seemed to command respect from all.

    Commonwealth Games Bull

The Commonwealth Bull is being discussed on BBC Breakfast this morning, showing updates from a workshop in London. The BBC is asking the nation for name suggestions for the bull. Should the bull be named by brummies though? Andy Street is at the workshop to give his view.

2 Back 22, Villiers Street, Ladywood

Villiers Terrace, which was off Villiers Street was where my mother was born in 1933. And it is in Winson Green. Opposite the entrance to Winson Green prison I think (no connection, I promise). I grew up living at 2 back 35 Auckland Road, Sparkbrook in the 50's until 1963 when we moved. We were...

    Garretts Green College

Definitely recognise your father on this photograph! I owe a debt of gratitude to him also because he went to great lengths to convince the invigilator that I was a competent arc welder after an unconvincing performance in my practical test! I remained in the industry until I retired 5 years...

    Garretts Green College

Mark, another great staff photograph! Brian Burton jumps out on the right hand side. Also Ted Whittaker is more noticeable being nearer to my time at the college. The last time I saw Brian Burton was about 1993 when a few of us had booked a session in the workshop to renew our welding...
