    A Plan for Birmingham

A really interesting video which I think puts into words and pictures what a lot of BHF members think about our city as it is now.

    Chattaway Street, Nechells

This 1855 map of Chattaway Street shows that it was originally called Nelson Street, Cook Street Long Acre was originally Trafalgar Road. Very few properties on Nechells Park Road in 1855. Edited

    Potter Street, Aston, C1900

Geoff that's a brilliant street map of Potter Street, I searched for ages late last night for a map like that, would you mind telling me where you found it. EDIT: Just found it, adding the date of 1855 brought it up on google.

    Potter Street, Aston, C1900

Great image and so atmospheric. Distinguishing feature are: 5 x terraced houses, entry to court at the rear, path/road on the right of the houses and signposted road/entrance on the left-hand side of them. No houses on the 1892-1914 map fit this image but there is a possibility on the 1839 map...

Potter Street map 1892-1914 and Kelly's listing of 1908. Reed's passage is mentioned on the 1901 census and can be seen on the right of the image in post #14.

    Picken Matthew

This a link to a similar photo to that in post #65 but earlier, probably 1950s, (shows a rag and bone man), apparently the original is a glass-plate negative so may even show the factory names. There is a cost involved unfortunately. There are several enlargements available...

    Ghost signs of Birmingham

It's such a shame when these get built in front of and then weathered over the years. Inevitable I suppose.
