Wandsworth Electrical - Ludgate Hill 1930's

Hi, I am the current MD of Wandsworth Electrical Limited and I am trying to trace anyone who has connections with the company when it started life off in Brum in 1905 up till it relocated to Surrey in 1955. It started life in St. Mary Street, Ludgate Hill, Kenyone Street and finally Frederick Street until it was bombed out during the 2nd world war. I am keen to find photo's or relatives of ex employee's for a booklet we are trying to put together on the company.

Hi
My grandfather Arthur Draper worked for Wandsworth Electrical Ltd. before he and his family came to Canada in 1929. I just asked my mom, who's his daughter, she lives with us and turned 100 yrs. old last Dec. and she not sure about his start date. I know, that he went to Ireland to work on the lighting on the Titanic, but not sure of what company he was working for at that time. He was a tool and die tradesman and lived in Yardley.

Hi, what a great story! I don't suppose you have any old photo's of your grandfather that you can share with us do you?

Hello,
I'll copy the photos I have of my granddad and post them. I'm retired now and working at a slower pace :) , so it probably won't be until tomorrow. We're doing the old Easter dinner tonight.
John

Hi John,

No problem and no rush - we are busy trying to find out if our product was used on the Titanic now :).

Enjoy your meal - Happy Easter!

Gary

Many thanks for sharing your personal photo's with me John, it is much appreciated and hopefully when get around to producing our 'company history book' we will send you a copy. Out of interest, what was your grandfathers date of birth?

Gary

Hi Gary,
My grandfather was born in the area of Aston, Apr. 21, 1884. My mom says her older brother Victor Draper apprenticed at Wandsworth Electric under my granddad. According to mom, her dad had about 150 people to look after there, he did a lot of teaching of the trade.
John

Hi Johnny, it has been a while since you shared your grand fathers details with me. I was wondering if you had any old photo's of your grandfather at the Wandsworth factory, or your uncle even?

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary,
Unfortunately, I only have a few pictures of my mom's family in Birmingham and there aren't any of the Wandsworth factory. As a side note my mom turned 101 yrs. old Dec. 22, she was born in a house (which is still there) on Lily Rd. in Yardley. My mom, who lives with us, is doing well, plays mahjong every Tues. with her young friends of 85.
All the best for 2013.
Johnny
