I am posting this on the forum as I have had a couple of PM's enquiring about a visit. We will arrange another visit when the weather gets a little warmer. It has to be on a fine day as the ground gets very muddy. When the date is decided I will post it in the Webring News section.
There is also still confusion amongst some of you about the two cemeteries in the Jewelery Quarter.
Warstone Lane (mainly C of E) is the cemetery which runs from Vyse Street in The Jewellery Quarter down alongside Pitsford Street to Ickneild Street. It was sometimes called the Mint cemetery as the mint was on the other side of the cemetery
Key Hill (mainly non conformist) is also situated on Ickneild Street but is separated from Warston Lane Cemetery by Pitsford Street and the Metro Line. So to access Key Hill Cemetery you have to go along Icknied Street under the Metro Line bridge untill you get to the cemetery gates. The other entrance to Key Hill is from ConstItution Hill along Gt Hampton Street towards Hockley Flyover. Before you get to the flyover turn left into a small drive that says Key Hill this will take you to the other entrance.
Key Hill cemetery was also known as The Old Cemetery and The General Cemetery
I hope this has cleared up any confusion.
