Hi All

Can anyone tell me when this glass plate negative was taken and what is the "engine ?" :confused2: (or where do you suggest I post the image to find out the information)

Mike,

I think the "engine" in the photograph is one of the Great Western Railway's Railmotors. These were basically carriages with a steam boiler at one end, supplying steam to cylinders on a power bogie under one end of the carriage.
They were introduced in the early years of the last century and l suspect your photo may date from then.
The Great Western Society are building a new railmotor at their Didcot base.
