  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

Thorp of Crown & Cushion Perry Barr

Just started some family history research and I am told that my maternal great aunt (Thorp - son Arthur - best I can do) used to run the Crown and Cushion in Perry Barr. Arthur was born in 1894 so it would be around that time or maybe earlier. Does anyone know of a history page or whatever regarding the pub? What I really need is Arthur's parents names.

Aston Commercial School Holte Grammar

Hello I started at Aston Commercial in 1959 and think it had just changed to Aston Grammar Commercial in 1957 which was the first year it took pupils aged 11. Before that they were about 13 before they could go there. Then in about 1960 it became Holte Grammar Commercial and the uniform changed...

I went to Osborne Rd. Infant & Junior School and remember a number of children there who were from the cottage homes, so why de we think the children at the National School were different? Was it a special school of some sort?
