  • HI folks the server that hosts the site completely died including the Hdd's and backups.
    Luckily i create an offsite backup once a week! this has now been restored so we have lost a few days posts.
    im still fixing things at the moment so bear with me and im still working on all images 90% are fine the others im working on now
    we are now using a backup solution

In a recent thread the Hydraulic House was mentioned, the building can be seen in this view of 1972 showing the Curzon Street Parcels Yard.

It was a different skyline in those days. The former Co op Factory in Belmont Row is also visible on the right top....

The hydraulics powered the capstans that enabled waggons to be turned on the waggon turntables as this image shows

Railway waggons were moved from siding to siding in this fashion.

Whether the archeologist have any interest in this aspect of history will remain to be seen, but the current actions of the contractors seen more intent on burying history rather than investigating it.
