Hi cearnegiant: "Take Me High" has finally come out on DVD. You can buy it on the Amazon UK site. However, it is listed as unavailable at this time. There is one review so it was there.

The complete movie is available on YouTube in 10 separate parts, quite good quality and very watchable in full screen view. Here are the links to the parts.

Recently someone has put onto the Forum a piece about Cliff doing a walkabout in Brum for the film Take Me High, but I cant remember what thread is was put under. Perhaps someone can remember. Thanks

If anyone is experiencing a problem with the links I posted above and are getting the following message in the YouTube window “An Error Occurred. Please try again later” then click Refresh or press F5 key when you see this message and they work fine then. Don't know why it works first for some and not for other but they do work. They are very good, I am up to part 5 at the moment and I must say I am enjoying the old shots of Brum.

It was once released as a freebe with the Daily Mail so might be worth looking in charity shops

There's 100's on e-bayfor a couple of quid....I bought one after seeing the other thread.

(Oops - sorry Ragga - didn't see your post!)

I went to the premiere of "Take Me High" at The Bristol Cinema, Bristol St, my friend and I sat in the five pound seats in the" front row" At the end of the film Cliff and Debbie Watling came to the front to receive bouquets, they were then quickly whisked out of the side exits. I still have the programme and ticket.

Yikes ! £5 in 1973 is nearly £50 in today's money !-Cliff must have become a millionaire on premiere night royalties alone!

Yes remember the premiere in Brum. If can remember years earlier when Cliff Richard films Like Summer Holiday came out.there were problems at cinemas from the teenagers ripping up seats. The Selly Oak cinema had that problem. Just think now that we teenagers from that time are now pensioners.

I know. On Saturday evening there was open air concert on field opposite where I now live. They playing all the old 60s hits. Was out in front garden rocking till it finished at 11.30.

I've just bought one of the "freebie" versions from the charity shop. Many members of my family were married or baptised at the The Church of The Messiah, on Broad Street so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I do not recall seeing Cliff's film. I will try to obtain a copy.
I attended filming of Privilege at Birmingham City Football ground ( film does not refer to football club ) in 1967. The Town Hall also featured in the film. Paul Jones from Pop group Manfred Mann starred in the film with Jean Shrimpton. My Grandmother and Aunt appeared in it too.
My Relatives also appeared in Film - Work is a four Letter work with Cilla Black, this too was filmed in Birmingham. I beleive in Erdington. Do any of you recall these films ?

I'd buy the Take me High DVD just to watch Deborah Watling :love-struck:

Hello Mark,
I'll gladly send you a copy of the programme and the ticket, my scanner isn't working properly so I'll get my daughter to do it for me.

regards Margaret

"Work is a four letter word" was a weird thing with Malcolm McDowell (? I think) and I saw it on TV years ago. The principle set seemed to be an old factory somewhere but bits of it were filmed in other places. My dad says that some of it was filmed on Broad Street - a fantasy sequence with lots of people singing and dancing - apparently they got a lot of the City Council and the staff of the TGWU in for that bit (Dad was a senior shop steward at the time so he should be in the crowd somewhere).

The male lead in "Work" was in fact David Warner, not Malcolm McDowell. Mr. Warner starred in a similar off-beat comedy just previously to "Work" called "Morgan-A Suitable Case for Treatment" Both were anarchy comedies and neither did very well at the box-office. Malcolm McDowell appeared in "A Clockwork Orange" and "O Lucky Man' which were anarchy-dramas of a few years later which may explain the misunderstanding. David Warner appeared most recently in the 'Wallender' TV series, but one of his hundreds of film roles was as one of the victims in the original "Omen" horror movie. Adverts from "Morgan" and "Work" are very hard to find nowadays as the poster print runs were very limited.

Richie the scene I always remember in A Suitable Case for Treatment'was when David Warner walked across the zebra crossing.

I know its an old post but someone has uploaded the complete film on youtube so can watch it in one hit rather than the ten seperate links mentioned previously

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0cughkWTFU

There are programs that allow you to download from youtube so you could get one of these and save the movie if you wanted to

The trouble with films like this is they make me want to live in 1973 again, and I can't!
