Stechford Station Footbridge

Heartland

The date for the anticipated replacement for the footbridge is now set for October 2018, with work extending into 2019. Temporary bridges will be put into place whilst the alterations progress.

The present footbridge was erected for the station alterations made at the time of electrification. The station buildings now in place took the place of the fire damaged buildings on the bridge.

The decking of the present footbridge had to be replaced through corrosion when access to the up platforms was made from the road bridge.

The December update is that the revised schedule is in 2019 !

The London and Birmingham Railway, 150 years on by Gould, David.

About to leave Stechford is No 310 085 as the 11.59 for Birmingham New Street on 28 August 1984. Stechford is the junction between the L&B line and the Grand Junction route to Wolverhampton which avoids Birmingham.
