Hi

I am researching my Sleigh line - I know my grandfather - Victor Alfred Sleigh was born in Erdington in 1887. Any Sleighs out there?

Many thanks.

Sleigh.

:) Hi. My lovely neighbours were called Sleigh. I am afraid they have both passed away. They lived at 68 Dunedin road Gt Barr and moved in when the house was first built. Bert died about twelve years ago. They have a son by the name of david. He owns a warehouse and makes pine furniture. Do not know the firms name. Bye for now. Jean. :)

Hi Diane.
Were you aware that your grandfather was the adopted son of Emma
Sleigh.
In 1891 she calls him her son but I thought it unlikely because of her age
and then in 1901 he is adopted son.

1901 197 Wheeler Street ,Lozells

Emma sleigh age 65 widow b. birmingham
John W age 24 b. Erdington
Victor age 13 b. Erdington

1891 Ravenhurst street,Deritend
Emma Sleigh age 55 widow
John W Sleigh age 14 son
Mary Sleigh age 66 unmarried sister in law
Victor age 3 son

1881 Sutton road, Erdington

William Sleigh age 45 boot and shoe dealer
Emma age 45
John william sleigh ,son,age 4 b. erdington
Agnes maria Sleigh,neice age 10 b. Uttoxeter

It may be interesting to obtain your grandparents marriage certificate to see if Victor names his father.
