This is in Scotland, Aberdeenshire. The local RNLI would have done it as it was the RNLI bicentennial two weeks ago.

Indeed, -It's at the Village of Whitehills on the coast near Banff. But these knitted "postbox toppers" have been popping up all over, to mark occasions. They started off during Covid to thank the NHS. May Lane in Hollywood/Drakes Cross has had a succession of them in the last couple of years. I regularly see them on the postboxes in Studley when I drive through.

Wikipedia even has a page on them...
