I Can't give any more information, other than confirm the Location of 71-71 Duke Street. Which I would say was more Gosta Green than Deritend. Duke St ran from Gosta Green to Coleshill St.
In 1950 the license holder was Mrs Lily May Williams. In 1967 the pub was still there but I would have thought it didn't remain much longer after that date.

Here is the information I have:
The numbering system changes between 1849 and 1852, but I think the pub is not listed pre-1852.
1852 - 1858 Henry Farmer Beer retailer and pearl button maker
1862 – 1879 Thomas John Hunt
1880 – 1883 Mrs Caroline Hunt
1884 - 1903 John Stanley
1904 - 1905 William Marsh
1908 William Marshall (possibly same as 1904-5 ?)
1912 - 1915 William Clark
1921 George Thorogood
1932 - 1940 William Barlow
1943 - 1956 Mrs Lily May Williams
1962 on Landlords (or ladies) were not normally listed in Kellys. Pub was still there 1973.
The directories only name the pub from the 1930s. I assume it before that it was still called the Red Lion. At about the same time as it was listed the numbering changed from 72 Duke St to 71-72 Duke St, so pub may have been expanded or even rebuilt

hi carolynn, the red lion was between lawrence st & colesill st, it was known as balows,by the locals i think it got its name from a previous owner,it was still there in1958
