Railway & Canal Historical Society talks at the BMI

Our first talk, free to attend, apart from may be £1 to cover room costs will be held at the Birmingham & Midland Institute on Saturday 21st October, when Stephen Dewhirst will talk about the Early Railway of Benthall in Shopshire. Time 1400-1600 and as chairman of this group, I extend an invitation to Forum members intersted in railways.
 
Steve gave a valuable talk which covered early wooden railways and the iron plateways, It was aspect of transport that was often forgotten
 
The transport talks continue with a railway talk on 18th November 1400- 1600 for those interested, on the 3rd Saturday in December will be a talk about the Roman Waterways in Gloucester, The 3rd Saturday of January will look at the Chester and Holyhead Railway, in February the topic will be the development of Midland Railways and the final one in March, Scottish Waterways Reservoirs.
