Mrs levy living at irving street birmingham 1914-1919

Dear Gang,

I am trying to track down the levy family who lived at Irving Street, Birmingham between 1914-1919 approx.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
gareth

Hi Gareth. The closest I can find, is a Barnett Levi, living at 82 Irving Street, Market Hall Ward, in 1912.

Barrie.

Gareth. Barnett Levi is the only person shown on the Electoral Roll. Mrs Levi (if there was one) would not be shown, because women did not vote at that time I beleive.

Barrie.

Don't know if this is relevant Gareth, but there is a Barnett Levi, the son of Leah Levi living in Birmingham in 1901. It looks like Inge Street.

Here is a copy of the census for 1901.

Dear Barrie,

this looks relevant. It seems that he was a tailor which is what I was expecting. Any idea who he was married to and their address.
Cheers,
gareth

Gareth. As he was a Russian Jew, he is unlikely to appear on the Marriage Registers. I have checked from 1901 to 1932 and there is no record of a marriage on the BMD Registers.

Have found the family on the 1891 census living at 12 Moscow Street, Leeds.

Israel 39. Leah 32. Barnett 13. Nathan 9. Fanny 8 mths.

There is a marriage in Leeds for a Barnett Levi but is in 1942 !! here are the details;

1942 Leeds Sep Qtr 9b 757. Wifes name Pauline Hegendorf or Hagendorf

Barrie.

Probably not relevent, but i noticed that, in 1901, Barnett's brother inwas a waterproofer. could thta have any connection with Mr Rainbow and his firm? Probably a coincidence.

Have found him:
1915-21 Levy, Barnett, Tailor, 106 Irving St
1921-40 Levy Barnett, tailor, 34 Belgrave road
Nothing 1943

These also may be relevent:
1904 Levy Leah (Mrs.), apartments, 127 Bristol street
1910 Levi Abraham, draper, 129 Irving street
1908-1910 Levi David, shopkeeper, 105 Irving street
1912-1940 Levi David, hardware dealer, 105 Irving street
Nothing 1943
(None of the above were listed in the 1903 or 1905 Kellys)
