Lucas Gt Kings St Christmas 1951

Lady Penelope

master brummie
We recently had a family gathering of all the remaining members of our father's family (four cousins). Our Leicestershire cousin bought along lots of memorabilia, photos etc. among which was this photo. Our Auntie Lil(lian), worked at Lucas's either in the accounts department or the wages office from about 1925 until she retired. I don't know anyone on the photo I'm afraid although she could be the lady third from the left. I had at first thought it was taken in the factory but I now realise it's the offices - just look at all those typewriters!

Great photo. Not sure they are typewriters LadyP. Think they’re another machine, possibly something to do with all those spools of wire ? Viv.

That would make sense Viv. The things on the extreme right reminded me of the warehouse office at Benton & Stone in the 1960's. Perhaps one day we'll find out what they are.

Here's another photo - no date but I expect it was taken at the same time.
