All you fish &chip shop experts please help settle an argument between myself and my brother.
In the 50's our Nan Soady lived at 28 Palmerston Rd, Sparkbrook. It was almost on the corner with Grantham Rd. Next door was a shop,I am convinced it was a fish&chip shop my brother says it wasn't but has no idea what shop it was. Anyone know?

There are no shops listed in Kellys in 1950 orn 1955 on that side of Palmerston Road, and can not see any fish & chip shop in Granth\m road (in case memory slipped a little)

Definitely not chippy of the year, you should have challenged the owner asking how he justified, battering Walkers /Golden Wonder crisps , just a joke but it would get your point over

Just had to give a shout out to the Empire Fish Restaurant beside The Locarno in Hurst Street, not only great chips but where I had my first Doner Kebab! Run and owned by Vassus, retired now, last known living in Moseley. Its now a Dixie Chicken.

I once had a stuck up pretentious girl friend, I told her I was taking her for a Greek Meal, you should have seen her face when I took her into the Empire Fish Restaurant for a kebab!

A great night out Red Sun in The Locarno and The Empire Fish Restaurant and you could even park the car nearby!
