Favourite Sweets

Di.Poppitt

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
I was eating my way through a packet of jellie babies today, :D and thinking of the sweets I ate as a child. I know I had toothache from eating aniseed balls, they were so hard and I bit on one and broke a tooth. I haven't seen them in the shops for years.

Hi Di there are a number of posts on the forum about 'Sweets' even a link to a site where you can buy some of your old favorites - Just thought you would like to know and read a few for yourself

WOW

<-----------Is VERY impressed Pom! I hope my moderators contract isnt coming up for renewal?

<--- This stirrer says, if you want traditional sweets then call in at Candies/A Billingham's at the National Trust Inge Street project.

I had some acid drops from there (well you don't think I'd be like this without a fix, do you?) and they were grrrrrrrrrreat! :p

And the sweets are made by Sela, West Bromwich.

Sweet fix

My brother, with whom I stay when in Brum, lives in Sutton Coldfield and I get my "sweet fix" at the Sutton Market. Went a couple of times this time.
But my how the prices have gone up over the years!!! Mind you I don't go
without a Brit sweet fix here in the Vancouver area. There is a charming old
village store in a place called Clayburn. The owners wife is British and the husband Canadian. They import loads of sweets in big jars from England also Cadbury's lines. It's a tea room as well. Cream teas and Ploughman's lunches as well.

Pom my little love you are amazing. I can't rmember what I wrote yesterday, so you will have to forgive me if I repeat myself. :D

Now I'd better swot up on some of the posts, it might take me all night........

PS I love Pontefract cakes too.
