After a year in the wardrobe [my mixer] I unwrapped my new mixer liquidiser and have decided to make a different soup each week. A certain Mr Penfold mentioned soups in a thread and that gave me the incentive to make some other than the one's I normally do. I have been sorting through my books and have marked a few but would like to hear which ones our members enjoy most. Thanks. Jean.

Why don't you try using celeriac as a base? This gives the soup a thicker texture and is very tasty. Just add onions and perhaps some fried bacon pieces and you have the basic soup. I then add courgettes or any vegetable to flavour, or just lentils. The variations are endless.

I make a mean Potato and Leek soup when the mood takes me. It is based upon a Delia Recipe.

Right folks my husband is not keen on parsnips lentils pearl barley tomato's and leeks. Slight problem but I do disguise leeks and often tomato's in curry. Narrows it down a bit. Bernie I could get away with that one I guess. Jean.
