EVENTIDE
In the gloaming when all is quiet/
and daylights birds have all retired/
When sea is calm and hills are dim/
the sun has sunk below earths rim.
Then outward fly the bats.
In Dracula’s form, they dark the sky/
where in silent flight and silent cry/
they journey on to some distant fields/
and blood is drunk from nature’s yields.
Then homeward fly the bats
