Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

Thank you very much Lloyd ;)

It is helpful to know the Electoral roll's show Arthur and Martha Ann MOORE there in 1920/5/1930/5/9.

I wonder who Gertrude Martha Moore was ? who was there in 1935-9 ?

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

BMD register shows Gertrude Martha Moore birth registered 1st quarter 1910, Aston (volume 6d page 285) so I'd hazard a guess that it's Arthur and Martha's daughter, probably appearing on the electoral roll in time for her 21st birthday in 1931, but that's not online.

Gertrude Martha Moore

Lloyd, your a very busy boy and helpful person ;)
So the BMD register shows that Gertrude Martha Moore's birth was registered in the 1st quarter 1910, Aston (volume 6d page 285).
But your guess that she is Arthur and Martha's daughter, may be right, but I'd had her down as probably his sister ???
But your "She appearing on the electoral roll for the first time in 1931 seems to lead me to think it was because of her 21st birthday, and your right

If so, then this refers to the above ???
A Benjamin Moore married Mary Moore [ and was her surname actually MOORE ???? ] 18th July 1819, Tewkesbury.

Thank you for all your help so far Alberta ;)

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

I wonder if someone could be really kind and recheck this for me, only I think Emma Moore age may be incorrect :(

1901 Census.
Address: 66 High street Gloucester
Benjamin Moore. age 50, head, a Musicain, (b) Tewkesbury.
Martha Moore. age 51, wife, (b) Tewkesbury.
Emma Moore. age 24, daughter (b) Birmingham.
Martha Moore. age 24, daughter in law, (b) Birmingham.
Arthur B Moore. age 6 months ,grandson, (b) Birmingham.

I think Emma Moore's might read something like this ...
Emma Moore. age 15, daughter, (b) Cheltenham. ;) or

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

It is definitely "Emma Moore. age 24, daughter (b) Birmingham."

Emma MOORE

Following up on the fine work of Lloyd
Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE [ Benjamin and Martha MOORE ]
It is definitely "Emma Moore. age 24, daughter (b) Birmingham."

1891 Census. Reference:
Address: 9 Victory Road, Barton St. Mary, Gloucester.
Benjamin MOORE. Head, married, 40, Professor of Music, (b) Tewkesbury.
Martha MOORE. wife, married, 40, (b) Tewkesbury.
George MOORE. son, single, 16, Hairdresser, (b) Birmingham.
Frank MOORE. son, single, 15, (b) Birmingham.
Arthur MOORE. son, single, 12, (b) Gloucester.
Albert MOORE. son, single, 10, (b) Gloucester.
Emma MOORE. dau, single, 5, (b) Cheltenham.

I need help  because the following does not pan out at all :(:(:(

1901 Census. Reference:
address: 66 High Street, Gloucester.
Benjamin MOORE. head, married, 50, Musican, (b) Tewkesbury.
Martha MOORE. wife, married, 51, (b) Tewkesbury.
Emma MOORE. dau, single, 24 (b) Birmingham
Martha MOORE. dau-in-law, married, 24, (b) Birmingham
Arthur B. MOORE. grandson, single, 6mths (b) Birmingham

I am sure there must be a good answer, but I am not bright enough to
see / find it.

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

Here they are in 1881,
Benjamin aged 30, b Tewkesbury, Engine fitter.
Martha aged 31, b Tewkesbury
George aged 7 b Birmingham
Frank aged 6 b Birmingham
Martha aged 4 b Birmingham
Arthur aged 2 b 'Gloucester' (County or town?)
Albert 8 mths b Gloucester (as above)
plus, as lodgers:
Emily Ann Hill, aged 27, b Ottery St Mary, Devon, Unmarried but with her son:
Frank J Hill, aged 3 b Gloucester.
No mention of an 'Emma'.

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

Emma Moore births in Birmingham that fit the above census queries are:
Emma Moore, birth registered 3rd quarter 1885 Cheltenham volume 6a page 428
Emma Moore, birth registered 4th quarter 1876 Birmingham volume 6d page 119

You really need to see the certificates for those births to see who had Benjamin as her father, for definite proof of age.
I believe you can order the certificates with the provision of 'only if the father is Benjamin Moore' to save cost.

Benjamin and Martha MOORE

Well done Lloyd, once again 'your the Man'

So!
Emma Moore births in Birmingham that fit the above census queries are:
Emma Moore, birth reg 3rd quarter 1885 Cheltenham volume 6a page 428
Emma Moore, birth reg 4th quarter 1876 Birmingham volume 6d page 119

Obviously it is:-
Emma Moore, birth registered 4th qrt 1876 Birmingham volume 6d page 119
So that she'll 24 in 1901, (b) Dec 1876 perhaps

Benjamin and Martha MOORE

Oh! dear, just to confuse the issue, I have just found this on the following :-
https://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/igi/individual_record.asp?recid=100435934806&lds=1&region=2&frompage=1

Emma Crump Moore.
Christening: 18 SEP 1885 St Matthias, Birmingham.

Which obviously fits :-
1891 Census. Reference:
Address: 9 Victory Road, Barton St. Mary, Gloucester.
Benjamin MOORE. H, married, 40, Professor of Music, (b) Tewkesbury.
Martha MOORE. W, married, 40, (b) Tewkesbury.
George MOORE. S, single, 16, Hairdresser, (b) Birmingham.
Frank MOORE. S, single, 15, (b) Birmingham.
Arthur MOORE. S, single, 12, (b) Gloucester.
Albert MOORE. S, single, 10, (b) Gloucester.
Emma MOORE. D, single, 5, (b) Cheltenham.

Only the Cheltenham would not fit :(

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

Hmm, she could have been christened at 15 - in fact all of the children could have been done at the same time, can you find christening dates for Frank, Arthur and Albert?
Sorry to dampen your flame, but I have found from experience not to assume anything in genealogy, nor to believe absolutely that the census details are correct.
The only truth about her age is a birth certificate for an Emma Moore giving Benjamin Moore as the father.

Benjamin Moore and Emma MOORE

She could have been christened at 15 - in fact all of the children could have been done at the same time.
I agree totally:)

Can you find christening dates for Frank, Arthur and Albert?
Good Lad, I missed that

Sorry [ no need ] to dampen your flame, but I have found from experience not to assume anything in genealogy, nor to believe absolutely that the census details are correct. Again, I agree totally:)

The only truth about her age is a birth certificate for an Emma Moore giving Benjamin Moore as the father. [ Will do ;) ]

Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

I wonder if anyone has the 1911 Census yet ?

If so, :thumbsup:can they possibly tell me of any changes to these details in the 1911 Census ???

1901 66 High Street, Gloucester
Benjamin Moore. head, 50, a Musicain (b) Tewkesbury.
Martha wife, 51 , (b) Tewkesbury.
Emma dau, 24 (b) Birmingham.
Martha diL 24 (b) Birmingham.
Arthur B g/s 6 months, (b) Birmingham

And Arthur Moore age 23, married, occupation: Billiard marker, (b) Gloucs. Who was a boarder at 134 Gerard Street, Aston Manor.

Any help would be very much appreciated :)

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

Mudpie, It is quite expensive to search the 1911 census and I don't think you will get a look up. If you go to the 1911 site you can buy vouchers.:)

Re: Martha Ann DAVIS and Arthur MOORE

:handshake: Thank you for that information.

Just shows I live in my own little world, and have not concept of the value of things at present :(
