Here they are

Daf and Dor (Daphne and Doreen) have known each other since they met at Work when Daf was twenty and Dor was nineteen. Daf is a born and bred Brummie. Dor was born in Dublin, her Father from Tyneside. Dor when asked about her accent say’s it is ‘Tyrish’. They moved to Birmingham when Dor’s Dad got a better paid job in a car factory over here. Daf and Dor worked at the Lewis’s Department store in Corporation Street. They worked in the underwear department. Dor always a joker, when asked what she did for a living would reply, ‘I work in underwear’. Daf raised her eyes and thankfully Dor gave the reply up in time. It was 1964 and the swinging 60s were swinging indeed. Dor loved Elvis and still does. Daf loved Cliff Richard but her favourite Johnny Cash as her boyfriend Jacob loved him. Daf married Jacob, and they had three sons. Dor was a maid of honour at Daf's wedding. Daf was maid of honour at Dor’s wedding. She married Tom who was a butcher. They had a son and daughter. Daf and Jacob settled in Kingstanding. Dor in Erdington where she felt it was a much posher area. Daf and Dor have been friends ever since those long ago years. Now in their seventies they spend even more time together as Daf moved a few doors away from Dor in 1984. Sadly Daf’s husband Jacob died in 1989. Dor’s husband Tom is retired and spends his time at the allotment, playing bowls and generally enjoying himself. Dor is mainly round at Daf’s home where they gossip about the neighbours, the Royal family and agreeing things were much better in the old days. They watch telly and have the odd sherry before Dor goes home to do dinner. Sometimes coming back when Tom goes out. Daf spends a lot of time on her computer that her son Raymond bought her second hand. He lives in Solihull, her other son’s moved to Australia. She’s been there once. But contented they are happy and now she can see them on her zoom. Dor thinks the computer is boring. She likes cross words and jigsaw puzzles. She still does a bit of knitting but her arthritis in her hands making that more difficult these days. The thing they both like is watching TV together. But they talk a lot through all the programmes. They have a lot to say about everything.
