Hi,
Can anyone help with a mystery?;)

I am trying to find out about Harold Ernest Collinton. My G grandfather had his war medal - he was in the East Yorkshire Regiment, but i'm pretty sure he was born in Aston about 1891 making him the same age as my ggrandfather. In 1920 he was living with my gggrandparents George and Harriet Hinton (nee Collinton)in Jardine Road. His parents may have been John and Sarah.

But I have hit a brick wall with tracing Harriet parents/siblings and would love to know the relationship between them. Can anybody help?

Big ask I know - but anything would help.

Re: Harold Ernest Collinton

Not sure if this is your man but
Harold Ernest Collinton married Lily Bond, September quarter 1922
Barrow in Furness.

Re: Harold Ernest Collinton

Having trouble tracking this man down!!!

Re: Harold Ernest Collinton

Thanks both. Geography about as good as genealogy. If there is a connection in Barrow would that put him in East Yorks Reg?

I realise marriage was after the war.

Back to the library to check the electrol register to see when he disappeared from Brum!

Thanks again

Mand:)

Oh my god! that is so generous of you. thank you so much:)

Think I need to go sit in a darkened room to try and digest all the information and workout who fits where.

Thank you again.

Re: Harold Ernest Collinton

sounds like John Jnr was a bit of a handful - always shipped out somewhere else.

Re: Harold Ernest Collinton

Alberta,

thanks sooo much for the post - i wanted to tell you where it lead me.
I searched the census and found out that my gggrandfather was a lodger with the Jenks in 1881 and Jane Wright was my gggrandmothers nan. They probably met while he was lodging there and married 8 years later.

Without your help i don't know if we'd have found the link.

Mand:)

Re: Harold Ernest Collinton
