hi gang
i am looking for any details about this officer from the royal warwickshire regiment
he wrote a memoir published in 1924
called
black square memories

i have a copy of this
inside the map sleeve, i discovered a letter to his pal j.l[?]tyler
saying he is going to send him a copy of his book
there is also 17 photos of the regiment prior to going to france
there are photos from tiptree school, was that were they were garissoned?

if there is anyone with any info or history to share i would be thrilled to hear from you

Re: h.t chidgey

Herbert Thomas Chidgey was the person who wrote the book.
His birth was registered in 1887 Mile end

1891 497 Commercial road Mile end.
Hugh T Chidgey age 30 Architect and Surveyor b. finsbury
Sarah age 32 wife
Alfred 5
Herbert T age 3
Edith age 1
Percy age 3 months

in 1901(age 13) and 1911(age 23) he is still with his parents

There is a Tiptrees school in Colchester so I would presume the regiment was garrisoned at Colchester Barracks.
