Hi all,
Does anyone know how to go about finding records for Chelsea Pensioners? According the 1851 Census, my Great Great Great Great Grandfather was a Chelsea out-pensioner (formerly a weaver) living in Shipston-on-Stour, which was then classed as part of Worcestershire, and according to his death certificate he served in the 1st Regiment of Foot. He was born in 1781 and I'm getting really excited here about the possibility that he may have served with Wellington at Waterloo!
Any information would be gratefully received.
With thanks,
Nostromo
