A picture of the Bull ring area in the war. the caption says "Men and women shop amongst the market stalls that line the centre of the road in Birmingham's bomb-damaged Bull Ring Market Square. Rubble and the exterior walls, which can be seen in the background of the photograph, are all that remains of the old market." Surely the last sentence is wrong ?

Yes Mike, rubble was from bombed shops not the Market Hall. Market Hall was on the left of the photo but out of view. The photo is from 1942 and incorrectly labelled on the Imperial War Museum site..
The photo below is from April 1941 the day after a devastating Luftwaffe raid. Subsequently Lord Nelson was bricked in to keep him from harm shown in the photo post #1.
