A Good Brummie
I know this subject has been covered by other threads, but I am just wondering how many "Botanical Brewery's there were in Birmingham ?
Only in the 1911 census my grand father was listed as 'a Canvasser' (Beverages), working for the Botanical Brewery.
 
Mudpie77, when I bought my last house in Erdington in 1962 there was an old shed in the garden and I found a number of old stone jars (which I still have) in there, two of them have the following inscriptions printed on them (1) G.L.Trickett, Botanical Brewer, Goldthorne Hill, Wolverhampton dated 1916 and (2) T.Saxon and Co., Botanical Brewers, Balsall Heath Rd, Birmingham dated 1914 if it is of any interest. They both contained liquid which smelt like wine vinegar. Eric
 
Some of the firms in the list of mineral water manufacturers of 1912 will also be botanical brewers, though probably not all were included. It is likely that soem very small businesses also brewed ginger beer for sale at their shop
