hi brumgum ;
there is alot to be said about brum;the penerlom swings both ways in my mind and i thiink brum as got along ay to go yet before it gets reinstated as a city of flavour i havenever ben to scotland yet ; thou i am planning at some point to do so; and london i know fairly well as i have lived in london and have friends
whom own and runs a club in the posh part of london for many years now
and i have vististed manchester many many times recently two years ago
and i have to say i also favour manchester city for a place to live in
even thou i am a brummie i think the brummie people have lost there way now,
And partly because the older generation of our brummie population have sadly moves away or have passed away and the generations now that are in brum are very sadly dishardened people and un polite to each other and some of the building are a disgrace and its becoming an unsafe place to live and its is a dirty place full of litter if you came to worcstershire you would see the difference of the place well maintained and litter free and no hostillery to each other
even the little kids do not fight each other and the police force is bang on
and as its stated on the BBC from time to time its the cleanest and he safeipart of the country to live in [ sorry if any one is offended [ best wishes Astonian;;
...
and finally a picture i took of Moseley Park which is independent and not run by the council but by the people for the people..

When you say by the people for the people do you mean for some people.The last time I walked round the park it had locked gates and I happened to to be working on a house that backed on to it, all the houses had gates at the end of their gardens which allowed them to use the park.
The British Tourist Authority disappeared a long long time ago and is now replaced by separate Boards for each of the UK - Visitscotland for example represents Scottish tourism. They each seem to do a pretty good job for all parts of their respective countries from my experience of them.Wasn't there a goverment Dept. called The British Tourist Authority supposed to promote, as its name implies, everything British? I imagine it would promote London, The Highands and would not even think of the Second City. If this quango still exists should the UK not be promoted by The British Embassy as well ?It takes a New York news paper to extol Birminham.
Wonders why NEC profits cannot now be set aside to help future payments instead of selling the NEC off.
Viv, you absolutely right; this is long overdue! Birmingham is a great city, I love this place, it's people, the culture and the heritage. Its out heritage that forms out culture, yet some how the people who make decisions about our heritage and out past, cannot not seem to get it right.
They wanted to rename part of the gun quarter, they shut down the Transport museum and we are honest, out museums could do a lot better when you compare them with those in other city's.
I hope this report just does not end up as the topic of another talking shop, and that we do take some positive steps to promote our past. I will get in touch with councillors Phil Davis, and have a chat about this.
