happy to help..i have also asked mike when he has time if he will post you a map showing 117 church lane..

No 117 disappeared from the maps with several other adjoining buildings between c1936 and 1950, so I think it was likely destroyed by bombing. It is shown in red on this c 1915 map below

thanks for the map mike...just looked on the BARRA site and church lane took a hammering so yes i would think you are correct about 117 being destroyed by the bombings...

Mike,

Very slightly off topic, but whilst we're in Church Lane, is there any chance you could post a map of 1 back of 12 Church Lane please? My parents, my brother and I were living there at the time of the 1939 Register. Many thanks.

Maurice

Maurice. On map below no 12 is in blue and 1 back 12 would have been the red house. It looks like they disappeared (bombed?) in the war, as they are not on the c1950 map.

Mike,

Many thanks for the map - they certainly crammed them in those days.

Lyn,

Many thanks for the bomb damage lists. It may have been as a result of damage to the Church Lane properties, but my parents were offered the tenancy of the repaired bomb-damaged property at 215 Knowle Road, Sparkhill. I can't be sure of the date of the move, but I was enrolled in College Road Infants School in September 1942. I already have details & photographs of the Knowle Road bomb and have previously posted them on BHF somewhere.
