Janice Correct, typo error on my part (24 still a year out). The newspaper piece gives age 52 so confirms again 1877 birth year. Have 1891 census now but still no 1901 (would be serving with RFA at this time). Peter

    Owen, James

Janice Yes there is inconsistency regards his (given) ages but I find this is not unusual on census records etc. He joined the Militia 16th October 1899 and made his mark (X) when signing (also doing the same when enlisting with RFA on 6th March 1900). However when enlisting with the...

Janice and Lyn Thanks to your great help have now completed (after a little more research) James's background and thought you might be interested to know about it. James enlisted in 4th Bn. Worcestershire Regiment (Militia) aged 18 years 5 months (given age). To Regular Army 6th March 1900 (RFA)...

Many thanks all, problem solved. The Llewellyn name from my original posting is his sister Elizabeth, married Herbert Llewellyn 1893. So born 1877 not 1882. Father Reuben mother Ann. Peter

lyn Address from pension ledger info. The above James died May 15 not the James I'm looking for (he survived the war). 1882 birth the only one I found that could be for him. Peter

    Nash, Luke John

Thank you Janice. Sarah and George (Lot George) twins. I have not found (birth) for Albert William so far or a marriage for Sarah Elizabeth Riley/Ryley and William Nash. I find it strange that on the 1891 census Albert William aged 12 is shown as a baker by profession/ occupation, is this an...

    Nash, Luke John

MWS Thank you for the above details, will look them up. Have now found a John Nash on 1911 census serving with 4th Bn. Worcesters but not sure its Luke John (aged 22 would suggest 1889 birth not 1887). Peter

    Nash, Luke John

Luke John Nash born Birmingham c1886. Have searched for a birth for the above named (1880 - 1890) without success but have a Lucas Nash for 1887. Luke was KiA 14.11.1914 and his sole legatee shown on Army Register of Soldiers effects was his brother, George Lot (George Lot Nash?). Have found...
