Hello just saw your post! seems you are researching the surname Acton, this was my wifes surname. Please contact me for more details, TomFor my 50th birthday (several years ago) my wife purchased a relatively old personalised number plate for me. The company that she purchased it from has since contacted her on two occasions offering to buy back the plate for almost three times the original cost.
Forget shares, forget property - number plates seem to be the best investment at the moment?
just going through some threads on cars and reminded of two old regisration marks of cars I owned one was 216 R W on a wolseley 1500 which I bought from a fitter in Ansells boiler house and the other again a 1500 was 9219 U E cant remember where that one came from but the reg nos stayed with me both cars I was the last owner of as they both went to scrap What would them nos be worth now Eh
I am restoring a Turner 950S - built at Pendesford Aerodrome in 1958. The registration number is WOL 846 - can anyone provide me with any information on the history of this individual vehicle? Is WOL a Wolverhampton plate? The DVLA have "lost" all the records covering this period!
My father owned BOM 1 on a Standard 9. My brother owned TOK 1 on a Consul, My other brother owned 2 HOP on a Stag which he claimed stood for " to hard on petrol " I have owned 31 KM VW, 70 COX Humber, 333 JON Cortina, CON1C Minivan, TON 17 Anglia, 6 JOC Pontiac, TR 31 Jaguar. I wonder where they are today if they still exist.
I read that registration A1 belonged initially Lord Brabazon Eric
Only numbers I can remember were DRW 197 and DOC 945 - DRW was a Wolsley and DOC was a Morrie Minor, cant remember the number of the Mini Cooper or the E type. My original Merc was on German plates till I shipped it out here in 1968 - now all our cars here have personalised plates and are moved from one car to the next - its the only way I can remember them and know which Merc is which why must they all be white!!!
Dyan in NZ
My brother had the reg OOA1R I wonder what that would be worth now?
