Probably the closest I will ever get to an image of No. 7, the original was put through a sewing machine, (you can see the tramlines on it), an action I have regretted in my adult life. Still not perfect but I'm more than happy with it.

Hello,

I have been doing my family tree and on the 1901 census, it says my g grandfather lived on Parliament Street, well the exact wording is 4 back 12 Parliament Street which I am not sure I understand. Looking at the OS maps and images posted here, at the date in question, does not look like there were any buildings to the back of the even numbers on the road? Am I correct or am I missing something?

This is a really interesting thread btw

There were two parliament streets, the other being off Coventry Road, but neither the modern nor the 1880s maps show vak houses at either 4 or 12 of either street

Martin88 is probably referring to John Luckman in the 1901 census .... living at 4 Back of 12 Parliament Street, which was then in the Bordesley ward of Aston. Parliament Street runs between Jenkins Street and Herbert Road in Small Heath.
I think 4 Back of 12 is in the area indicated on this map.Parliament Street c1902a.jpg

Thank you so much, yes I do think that makes the most sense! Yes John Luckman is who I was referring to.
