Hicken family

Smash

Brummie babby
Hi, I'm looking for any information about my grandads side of the family. I literally know nothing about that side and I'm not in contact with my mother to ask her.
My grandads name was Alfred Hicken
Born 8/12/1939 - Died 8/4/1989
I think his last address was Upper Highgate St.
He had 6 kids with my nan Lillian Stokes, I don't know if they were married.
My grandad lost half of his arm in a work accident and with money (from compo I think) he opened a small grocery shop for a short while.
I have a vague memory that he had a sister called Ada who had an extra finger.
Thank you in advance if anyone can help! ☺️

Appears to have been the youngest son of Alfred M Hicken and Elsie Audley. Had 2 older sisters - Iris and Violet - and w older brothers - William and Terence.

Alfred and Lilian marriage reg. Sep qtr 1961 Bham.

Alfred Morris Hicken was born in Budbroke, Warwickshire in 1898, died 1965.

He was married previously to Elsie Laura Pignutt and had a son Alfred. Elsie died in 1923 and Alfred in 1924.

Elsie Audley was born Aston in 1903, died 1961.

Oh wow, he married 2 Elsie's and lost a son! I don't know how many other Alfreds there were previous but my grandad was at the 3rd. I named my son after him, Alfie, which is what everyone called him apparently ☺️

Edwin George's father George died when Edwin was young and his mother Hannah (nee Curtis) married a Thomas Buckingham and they had a son Alfred.

There's so many Alfreds so Edwin George Hicken had a half brother called Alfred and then went on to have a son called Alfred

Alfred (1875) and Harry (1879) Buckingham were half brothers and Martha Hannah (1868) Buckingham was a half sister (not a full sister).

William (1861) and Ruben Thomas (1857-1864) Hicken were full brothers.

Martha was incorrectly listed on the 1871 census hence the confusion.

Sorry to be a pain, I forgot to ask do you know how old Alfred was when he died in 1924? And did Alfred & Elsie Audley marry?
