21 court 14 House Hospital Street, Hockley

Just found the address of my great grandparents first house after getting married in 1903. I’ve managed to find 21 court Hospital Street and was intrigued to see that it was extremely long and thin and didn’t appear to have an alleyway access.

Just wondered if anyone knew of any information about this unusual court

The access looks clear to me. Not like the other nearby courts where the access appears to be a covered entry between two houses but much more open from Hospital St.

to go with the above map is a photo of court 21 house numbers 15 to 17

The entry between the two houses would seem to indicate that 15 to 17 are the three houses round the corner at the end.

Their first house was number 14, where would that have been on the map?

Sorry I meant a covered alley like other courts, this court looks quite open in comparison

Difficult to be certain but assuming that 15-17 are the ones at the end and the first long row is 1-10 then I'd guess no. 14 is the one on the top right of the open square just after the number 21.

hi all. thought i would post a couple of pics of hospital st for you. may be of interest to those who had ancestors living there..... i only found out a few weeks ago that i myself did. not sure if ive put the 1st 2 on before maybe under another thread. ive looked but cant find them.

looking again at the photo i posted and bearing in mind house numbers went up in ones and photos were usually numbered left to right then at a guess no 14 is just out of shot to the left of the brick wall

alas we see that so many times however if you go through the hospital st thread there could be more photos and at least you know what the houses looked liked
