thomas leech boot manufacturer

I wonder if anybody knows anything about Thomas Leech and his boot factory or shop? He is the father of my grandmother, Florence Annie adams (nee leech birth1885) and his occupation was "boot manufacturer".

The address of Florence's mother, that is Thomas's wife is Sarah Jane Leech (nee Sheldon)was 7 george Street ,Hales hill, Dudley so presumably this was Thomsas's address also.

Florence Annie leech married wilfred george adams in 1916.

Sarah Jane Leech was born in approximately 1856 and married in 1883, so the address as above would have been valid in that year

I thought my mother mentioned a shoe shop, but the marriage certificate of sarah jane states "boot manufacturer"

The family is confusing in terms of christian names : my mother was jane at birth but always called jean and her father is wilfred george adams on on one document and george wilfred on the other, and my mother referred to sarah jane as jane only ,so Thomas leech could have had used a different christian name.

At some time Sarah Jane lived in belbroughton, so Thomas will almost certainly have lived there too, but I've no idea when.

Thank you any information would be very welcome.

In the 1860 and 1872 directory John Leech is listed as a boot & shoemaker at 7 George St Kates Hill.
In 1884, 1888 and 1892 T. Leech is listed as a boot & shoemaker at 7 George St, Kates Hill.

This advert/letter signed T Leech, addressed 7 George Street, Kate’s Hill, Dudley, and dated February 1891 was almost certainly sent by your Thomas Leech. The 1891 census shows him at 7, George Street with his 5 year old daughter Florence and wife Sarah.

I wonder if he received money for lending his name to the “Life Belt”, or did it really relief the some of the problems ? Also may show that Florence was not in the best of health.

How about this ? County Express, 18 April 1891.
