Celia grace phillips

knowlegable brummie
Hi my name is kathreen james and I am trying to find a school entry for my grandmother and was wondering if anybody could help me ?

The back ground I's that my nan was born celia grace Philip's the eldest daughter of albert Philips and sarah ne wall .
Celia was born 24 July 1895 lived her young years in allcock street in deritend. She had a younger brother albert who was born in 1899. Then her dad was sent to the Boer war where he was a high ranked officer .

Then tradgey struck in 1901 delia who was then six found her mum dead in the courtyard on the 15th december .cause of death probably heart failure which found strange no inquest.

It was then thought that sarah sister mary jane ( ginny) came to look after the children . When Albert came home from service himself and mart jane (.ginny) started a relationship and had three children john Phillip's, william and clarice. The oldest of the siblings were born 1908

Now it was law until 1907 that once you could not marry a sibling it was illgial to do so.

looking at the census of 1911 and other listing it states that Albert Phillip's and Ginny were married in fact they actually took over Sarah and Albert's.

Now I mentioned ginny b4 . The reason she was called that was that celia refused to call her mom and certainly dod not allow her children to call her nan.

The thing I need to ask about 7 years sho we went to the heritage centre and by chance saw a entry in the allcock street school admissions. Thst stated that celia was a admission to the school in 1907 and that s previous school.was kings Norton school . Then a exclamation as it was realised that the book.we were reading was in actual fact cl8sed as some entrants were younger than 100 year rule . This is still the case 7 years on .

Could you please advise where the kings Norton school registers exist and if so where they would

Celia was not well treated as a child and was quite feisty who actual voice her options about the above

Thank you t kath xxc

If any records exist then I would expect the libray archives to hold them.
However I would guess few registers remain as even today schools are only required to keep registers for 6 years after a pupil leaves.
You could still come up against closure rules even if records exist.

Thank you for this reply . I'm wondering if kings Norton would have come under Worcester at the time of entry? X

Hi hope you are all well ?

Update on celia I have the entry in alo20260402_142234.jpgck school register which hopefully I will attach. The records book is still closed and wont be open until 2036 . The reason for this that although it is a admission book it is a entry for her leaving alcock school in 1907 . She was 12 but it does still say previous school king Norton.
Now when i got the information, ( a closed search) ibwas advised to go to Worcestershire records as kings Norton at that time was on the region . However they had no records but said about Birmingham. Then I suddenly thought small pox records each child had to have the vaccine I thought at school.but not sure ? So went yesturday and I think after looking through two very large and beautiful books that they vaccine was given when they were babies ? Also it would appear that there is a childrens census that Birmingham did that checked up on children going to school ?

So does anybody know or experienced any of the above please? Thank you
