just posting this pic again with info from our member taken from the clements arms pub thread not that it helps us with this mystery of no 40

Thank you mikejee, excellent information. Here is a photo of 32-34 Coventry Road during 1895-1908, as you can see from the advertising/ghost writing a relation of mine a John Dyche, was a Teacher of the Violin, at the premises on the left, 32 Coventry Road, it became Ernest Dyche Photographer in around 1910. It was just down the road from the Bordesley Palace Theatre. The Clements Arms pub was at 30 Coventry Road.

Hello.
Does anyone know of H Harrison, newsagent and tobacconist on Coventry Road, Small Heath? He was a relation in my Wife’s family during the 1960’s and 1970’s. We have a photo of the shop, curtesy of Veronica at Small Heath Library, whom we are very grateful to. We would like to know where this shop actually was on the Coventry Road. If anyone can help us, we would appreciate it.
Hi Yes . Harry Harrison was my grandfather and Victor Harrison was my father. The shop was 476 Coventry Road. My father passed away in 1981 and the shop was sold the following year - this was his wish before he passed. I worked for my father for 3 years at the shop. My grandma on my mothers side Catherine Tustin also worked there and a family friend, Mrs Ruby Taylor.
There was another newsagents nearer the Blues ground who knew my family but were not connected to us.
During the later days I remember the cake/bread shop next door, Cue Transport and The Army and Navy Store opposite and Woolworths near the Blues ground. If I remember rightly there was a store next door called 'Hilliers' which I believe was a church before hand. The year dad passed we had very heavy snow and we struggled to get the newspapers delivered. I would love to know what relation your wife was to the family. I was born in 1957 so just a toddler when dad took over the shop from grandad. Thanks for listening.
Sally (Harrison)
