The building is still there Lyn, but of course completely changed.

Certainly is Lyn, I suppose it's lucky that it's still around after 100+ years, what a cute shop it was in it's day, probably the proud owner and his granddaughter in front.

i was thinking the same thing john...no date but maybe the 30s or 40s...im not very good at dating photos...wonder if we could find out the owners name...says on the one side bassett and looks like wilson but is that the name of the owners or an advert for something..i would love to live in a house like that knowing it was once a shop and also having an old photo of it..

There's a discussion about the photo and shop on this thread link below, specifically post #11. The elderly man is believed to be W J Wilson, once Birmingham Town Crier. The girl is believed to be his granddaughter, Dorothy Bassett.

A long line of Wilsons were Town Criers. This report shows Jacob Wilson Town Crier died in 1882, William (in the photo) was his son.
