Hi my mom and auntie Audrey & Beryl were born in Terrace Road 1930s lived there till 60s. I remember as a small lad playing in the old derelict house with my cousins. There used to be a large area of overgrown field or bomb site at the far end I think. Dennisons Watch company was at the end of Villa Road. My Friend is the daughter of Wiiletts the Grocers on Villa Road.
Hi we lived in the grove until 1972 it was called the dump at the end of the grove, I remember Wilettes and the butchers across the road from it also the paper shop and cafe, there was a chip shop at the top of Villa Road run by a Greek family, I remember Andy I think his name was who lived in the grove who rode a scooter with lots of mirrors on it

It was sent to a Miss Wilkinson June 12th / 06 - I wonder if she is related to the Wilkinson family who owned the store on Villa Road.

Used to play in the Grove off Villa road with friends in the late 1960s. I believe schoolfriend Johnny Robbins lived there

hi debbie here is a map showing the grove which also gives the numbers..doubt there are any photos of it but if you go to our villa road thread i know for sure there are photos of the houses on villa road that was demolished..read from post 1 so that you do not miss anything...click on links below for the map and the villa road thread..lyn
The 'then' pictures are taken from old postcards, the 'now' pictures taken from Google Streetview.
The older of the pictures is thought to date from the 1920's.
Have inserted postcard images of the old villa Road, but they may not all be the original ones

But I was always pretty curious, particularly when I was riding my bike down almost any road, let alone a road that I frequented. I worked for WT Baker, butchers on SoHo Rd for almost 4 years and went past the Grove 8 times every week. Still can’t believe I was not aware!
