Rose Taylor, 709 Walsall Road, Birmingham, 1949

Miss Sarah

proper brummie kid
I am searching for info on Rose Taylor who reportedly lived at 709 Walsall Road, Birmingham on 17th March 1949 x
Was this a private dwelling and did she live with other family members? Its believed Roses father was called Albert x

how old was rose at that time..was she old enough to be on the electoral register and was she single

It looks as if the Calderwood family loved at 709 Walsall Road in the 1940s

newspaper ad from 1947

Judging by enh=gagement notices in the 1960 the Calderwood family were still at that address.
that was my doctor when i lived in great barr think the surgery was further up walsall road on tower hill...at least it was in the 1970s i think his son also joined the practice

Sorry - should have said the ad was in an Irish paper and I think the "fare paid" was to the UK and I assumed that it was a live in job.
Possibly replacing the Berndette Rankin who is on the 1945 eroll.
Frustrating I can't access 1949 eroll online.

Dr Calderwood was my mother's family's doctor when they moved to Perry Barr.
His practice was in a house on the Walsall Road just up from Church Road, he was in partnership with Dr McConnell the younger doctor who delivered me!

Later on, in the 60s I think, they moved to the health centre next to the canal on Tower Hill and yes, his son and daughter in law who were both GPs joined the practice there.

right jan and yes i agree the fare paid bit must have meant for the fare over to england..pity we cant get the 1949 erolls online...would the 1950 be of any use

I've posted the 1950 one in the same post as 1945.
I am wondering if she married in 1949 and gave that address then left their employment

Thank you x Perhaps Rose was in employment here at the time she had her daughter x

at first i thought it could have been a live in job jan but as it says fare paid that could mean to get back and forth to the house

Some of the Taylor family i search for are from the Co. Antrim area of Northern Ireland, this could explain the fare mention x Im looking for confirmation if she lived with family but this looks doubtful x

It was the Northern Whig. I also think it was in another Irish paper as well
