It is The Plough. Not Plough and Harrow. Still there and I am sure it is on another thread somewhere on the Forum.

It was small to start with but now much extended.
It was a Berni Inn (remember them?) late 60s.

I haven't been by for a while but it seems it is permanently closed. It might be that the hotel part is open and only the pub is closed.

I think the original (as in the photo) formed the "pub" and the restaurant etc was the extended part.

Some years ago the pub part (which was once very busy) closed and the place was refurbished to become a Beefeater restaurant. Unfortunately the owners Whitbreads decided to close it around the middle of last year and use it solely as the eatery for the Premier Inn which is on the same site (not sure if this happened). The Barn at Hockley Heath closed at the same time. My wife and I used to eat there regularly with friends but as members of the 'Beefeater Reward Club' they suggested that we should now use the George in the Tree in Balsall Common! Hardly convenient.

Well it changed so much after the years passed. All went 'down hill' then the we had the Beefeaters etc...come in and claimed all ! style left. We come from a better age my dear.

The Plough when I performed there was style ...it all went downhill when live music started to die. But there are must be a few of us still around to recall what a grand place it was.

I performed at The Barn too in later years....but t never had the class of the Plough.

Sadly...Brum for all of us who knew the 'old days' the big boys took over everywhere and became part of the destruction of individual places of entertainment. Just like our faceless 'shopping centres'. I am an old git...so I can moan. And don't forget my book..WITTON.. Set in 1945 ! The Year I was born.

Interesting, I may take a shot on Kindle….
Good luck with it.

They is great, I wonder when that was ? As it was (as I recall) more modern than this and they had a more modern restaurant a dance floor arae near stage. I am grateful for your input. Memory can be a changing sea over time !
