Thank you for the additions to the previous photos I last posted , nice to fit the pieces together .
I have another unknown photo to start - well to me anyway, this one does not even have an entry on my list.
Sign over the entrance says "Highfield Ballroom", apart from that wide empty streets, old bus stop sign and no cars - imagine !

EDIT: From localmike, Highfield Road, Hall Green, pre 1955, date to follow. Became Highfield Hall Community Centre

An interesting picture of a large imposing building, This is the Albion Cinema, the picture has a number of interesting features, firstly love all the metalwork on the windows - all sorts of patterns, enjoy the fact there is a LLoyds Bank connected to the building and the finger signpost on the pavement.

Next we have the Marquis of Lorne, apologies for the quality, picture was dark and twisted so a bit of foreground was lost when I straightened it. Corner of Newtown Row and Cecil Street taken in August 1961. Love the dome on the corner and the fancy street light and a little Morris Minor on the left.

This appears to have been in Highfield Road, Hall green. Newspaper mention it from the early 1930s till early 1950s. but looking at several Kellys from the period, do not see any mention of it in Highfield road, or Mr Goodall, who is mentioned in one article as well as on the sign

Finally another one with not much details - " old school " is all I have - may be grasping at straws but as we have a lot of Newtown images recently could it be in that area - blocks of flats under construction could be a red herring.

Highfield Road, Hall Green, the date I have is 15th March 1961, and the reference suggests a Town Planning Application photo: x65765 6. Became Highfield Hall Community Centre. Henry and Mair were dance teachers pre- and post-war.

Apologies for the cropping another image that was " twisted" and lost size during straightening. St Chads School Brealey Street, and a classic school building pointed brickwork to the eaves, arches over over window and the metal framed windows too. Like the pitched roofes and eaves too. The mini estate is nice too !
EDIT - Got told off by Astoness ;), steve that is not St chads school its Alma St school...i went there - thankyou Lyn .

steve im pretty sure that school was in wheeler st but the name escapes me for the min...

I am afraid the next image needs your help again - " Old Church "
I seem to recognise it but not sure of the location , very distinctive with spire next to the main entrance and the other spire in the middle of the building. As you can see I have not straightened this picture as it lost too much of the edges of the image -0 shows what some of the pictures start off like though.

We move onto Roll 6 the majority of the images were poor photos of pubs and were reshot on roll 7 so I will come to those later .
The first few images are Aston Road North in 1990, not exactly old, relative to what else we have been looking at.
I don't know what is there and what isn't so I am not sure of the interest - I can only add observations.
I am going to try and do a 180 degree run through of images - to start we have HP sauce, start of the flyover and a few office/ shops - I have also worked out the photographer has a Vauxhall Cavelier !!

Next we have a later picture from the one on #1255, this is take in 1990 as opposed to 1989, but a lot changed in a year - this is Great Hampton Row, Nightingale Knitwear - the pub sign has been covered up and the ground floor has been covered in cladding - seems like they are doing well.

nightingales now finished...this building used to be ye old engine tavern..

My notes give the following information on this building - back in 1856 the building was a pub called the Plough and Harrow and stood on the corner of Rea Street and Moseley Street as we can see it is now a cafe / house . Quite a traditional house front on the left and sash windows upstairs, quite an old sign on the corner, has the " Cafe " bit been added to it?
