I am searching for a photograph of my great great grandparents John and Mary Ann RANDON (formerly Brant) I have been searching for years and now hoping the Birmingham History Forum may be able to help. If you see this post and are a descendant or know of a descendant of John and Mary Ann RANDON (formerly Brant) I would very much appreciate if you would make a reply.

John and Mary Ann RANDON lived at 49 Alfred Street Smethwick, Birmingham during the late 19th and early 20th century

Maps from the mid 1800s and c1913 show 49 Alfred Street, Smethick listed as an off licence run by Mary Ann Randon from the 1892 till the 1905 directory. In the 1913 editions it is again listed as Mrs Mary Ann Randon. Previously in 1890 Mary Ann is running a coffee shop in nearby Downing Street.

Genealogy

John Randon Born 1830 Earl Shilton Leicestershire. Died 1886 Albert Street Smethwick Birmingham aged 56. Buried St James church Handsworth.
Mary Ann Randon (formerly Brant) Born 1883 Warwick Street Birmingham. Married 1856 St Peter and Paul Aston Birmingham. Died 1917 49 Alfred Street Smethwick Birmingham aged 82. Buried at St James church Handsworth.

John and Mary Ann had 6 children. Two died in infancy. The other four children married as below;

1. William John Randon (1858-1922) married Catherine Sarah Downing. Eldest daughter of Samuel Downing (Ironmaster of the Richmond ironworks Great Bridge) who lived at 'The Norlands' Erdington and Hawthorn House, Handsworth, Birmingham.

2. Agnes Ellen Randon (1875-1963) married George Frederick Beesley. My great grandparents.

3. Ada Mary Randon (1863-1930) married Charles Peter Newland.

4. Edwin George Randon (1865-1908) married Ellen Mathilda Walker.

Are you are a descendant of any of the above marriages? Do you know of anyone who is? If so, I would very much like to hear from you. I have a lot of information and photographs of the children of John and Mary Ann Randon.

Hi Lyn
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have searched the few family trees on Ancestry and contacted members but they have no photographs. In my experience, often descendants not on Ancestry have photo's in an old album or shoe box. The problem is finding these people! I've been searching for years and running out of ideas. I'm sure there is an old photograph out there somewhere. Most working class people / families wanted a photograph of themselves in the later half of the 19th century when photography become wildly available.
