I'm trying to find some background to Leonard W Taylor who was part of the Taylor Lathes family in Birmingham. His father was William Taylor and his uncle Lew Taylor, information I obtained from the Taylor Lathes web site.

L W Taylor was a famous motorcycle sidecar racer both before and after WW2 and a couple of years ago I acquired an album of him racing at Donington Park in the 1930's. I am now trying to incorporate these into a book about LWT at Donington but would ideally like some information about the man himself. I believe he was born in 1914 but it would also be good to understand:-

* where he lived
* where he went to school
* his career after university - he was a graduate of Birmingham University Engineering Department
* any general information about not only him but also his family

Any information would be much appreciated

I have found a couple of bits which may help but there is nothing on his exploits. I hope I have the right one as there was more than one Leonard W around at the time.

Leonard W Taylor Birth: Jul 1914 - Aston, Warwickshire. Death: Dec 1967 - Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. May have married Patricia Rymond, 1938 Birmingham, no clear electoral rolls, except for a Leonard Taylor at 108 Sherlock St on the Absent Voters list 1938, he was in the Royal Navy. They may have had a daughter Diane in 1943?

Parents: William Langstone Taylor & Ethel Mary Liversage married West Bromwich, Staffordshire 1906.
William was born about 1883 Sutton Coldfield in 1911 he was a Foreman, Tool Maker. They were living at Cordwell, Woodlands Rd, Sparkhill, B'ham. Ethels younger sister Jessie was with them.

yes you are right by the way he did marry Patricia and had 4 children, Michael (my dad) Colin, Diane and Jeanne

Hi, I have just bought one of Len Taylor's racing Norton Internationals and would be very interested in any information or photos of him and I believe his son, racing.

Simon, It would be very interesting to talk and I would be happy to show you the bike which was restored by George Cohen
