Sorry Chris, I have to disagree with you, I was born in 1930 and found life far more pleasant in the 1930's and '40s (despite the war) than the present time, now the world seems to consist of continuous hate, violence and uncertainty , I certainly feel for the young of today. Eric

These 'then and now' pics are in Birmingham and I'm in the old pic with my sister, a young uncle, and a cousin. We are in Turfpits Lane Perry Common and and the old pic was taken in 1941 during the bombing phase of WW2. The 'now' pic is courtesy of Google Streetview and my matching of the views is unfortunately not so good. I did consider making the Google pic black and white.
