Longbridge High School, Northfield in the 1920's

I have my mother's school reports from when she was at school from Christmas 1921 to Easter 1925. The headed note paper that the report was written on stated the school was LONGBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL, NORTHFIELD. The Head teacher was a Miss Dann. In one of my mother's diaries she states that she went down Pigeon Hill to the school. Does anyone know anything about this school? It was very small as the maximum in a class for one year was 14. It was not a state school.
Thanks for any help that comes my way.
Dave

Looking on-line I have found references to Pigeon Hill being a stretch of the A38 that starts from about the Black Horse pub in Northfield and goes towards Longbridge. There is also mention of Pigeon House - demolished late 1900's which once stood near Hill Top Road - this is a road that joins the A38 not far from the Black Horse Pub.
Mike Jee is familiar with this area - hopefully he will have a map.

The 1921 directory (which would refer to c 1920) does not list any school, so I imagine your mother must have been one of the first pupils. However the 1932 Kellys lists Miss Ellen Dann, private school at 1163 Bristol road south. This seems to correspond approximately to what is listed as Tessal house in the 1921 directory. In that year it was occupied by a Frank Parry , physician, but is not numbered. If Tessal house building was the school, then it would have been set back a bit from the road., as can be seen on the c 1921 map

Many thanks pollypops. I have got that far near enough but still no real clue as to location of the school. I shall keep asking!

A Later edition of Kelly's puts Miss Dann's school at 1168 Bristol Rd South which was over the road from Tessall House next door to the Police Station. Might one of them be in error or perhaps the school moved later.

I missed out on that Phil. It was not an error, as the school seems to have been listed at no 1168 from 1936 till 1956. It had disappeared by 1962. From around 1949 it was named as The Tessall house school, preparatory school, which would comfirm that originally it was in Tessall House. Presumably by 1949 Miss Dann had retired. It must have been quite a small school, as the houses, though having reasonable sized rooms (I was in a flat at 1164) was not a very large house.

Well done to Mike and Phil - excellent information as always.
Mike - as soon as Phill said by the police station I wondered if it was your old place - small world!

Many thanks to each and everyone of you. A problem that has been on going for a long time has been solved! Why didn't I ask my mother these questions when she was alive?
