According to family search Joseph Clarke married Margaret Jones 26 October 1779 St Martin’s, could anyone provide any additional data?

Thanks
Clarkie

Hi Clarkie, just a general enquiry. You wouldn't happen to have a Harriet Selina Clarke in your tree would you? Her husband was George E Clarke.

Cheers
Barrie.

Hi Barrie,
I see George E Clarke married Harriet S Knight, married Aston 1816. Where a few of my ancestors were born around that time. They are not in my tree and strangely there are no George's on my Clarke side, Yet.

My cousin did some research a few years ago, this took him back to about 1700 Tanworth in Arden.
We have recently found that to be incorrect and we seem to be from Birmingham, certainly back to 1750 and some evidence to suggest back to the 1500s.

If I can be any help, let me know.

Regards
Colin Clarke

not much extra again im afraid. joseph clark - bachelor and margaret jones - spinster. both of this parish.
your date is correct. witnesses were john ashbrook and ann stringer. all the best, shera

Hi Colin. Yes those are they, but they married in 1916 not 1816 (perhaps a typo?) They had two daughters, Violet and Irene. Harriet went to live with my Grandad Hubert Wells, but they never married. They had a daughter Gladys May Clarke, when the birth was registered my Grandad told the registrar that his surname was Clarke, so there he is on the birth certificate as Hubert Edward Clarke when his name was really Hubert Edward Wells. He was a bit of a scoundrel eh'

Barrie.
