Where and When.

I think it is definitely Cannon Hill Park, the east side of the smaller lake (nearest to Edgbaston Rd). It's possibly the island nearer to Edgbaston Rd but there again I think I can make out the edge of the Boar War Memorial near to the middle of the photo, but I might be wrong in that. But I do recognise the Weeping Willow Tree (if thats what they are called) on the bank.

Do you have the dates for those newspaper cuttings, Len? The balloon barrage HQ that they visited could have been RAF Wythall.

Looking at Google images for Cannon Hill Park there is are willow trees still along the path, the best I can see might be this one...

And that could be a Memorial.

I think that this photo is in the grounds of Highcroft Hospital, behind the prefabs in Reservoir Road Erdington. Probably 60's or early 70's.

Does anyone remember a field behind the prefabs where this type of event may have taken place?

The reason I have this idea is that my uncle had a prefab there.

Peter it certainly looks like it is where you say The Cottage Homes was in front of the hospital I spent a short time in there and played on that ground at the time.I can remember taking my son to play football on there in the early eighties not sure if it,s still there now it may have been built on. I think that this must again be early 1960's.

I have a feeling where this one is, and if it is where I think then I am sure someone will recognize the place.

Hi Peter Hows it going?im afraid its not ward end there was a iron fence round the bottom end of ward end park
and there is also a wall at the bottom end about 3ft high.it looks like cannon hill to me.
